Gay movies for christmas

Last week, Queerty posted an article proclaiming, “The Hallmark Channel is gayer than ever this year!” This is followed by a massive list of exactly THREE movies that they consider queer . The first one, Catch Me If You Claus stars Luke Macfarlane in his 16th feature for the network. Yes, the Bros co-star is gay in real life, but the nature in the film is not. Kudos to him for continuing to be cast in unbent roles, but… do we then count this as a lgbtq+ film?

The second movie on their list, Christmas on Cherry Lane is an ensemble piece that includes a gay couple. Jonathan Bennett, Hallmark’s go-to gay thespian for gay roles plays other side Vincent Rodriguez III. It airs December 9th.

The third film, Friends and Family Christmas centers on lesbian friends (Humberly Gonzalez & Ali Liebert) who must pose as a couple for the holidays… and you’ll never speculate what happens! This one premieres on December 17th.

So there you have it. As a reminder: The Hallmark Channel is premiering 42 – FORTY-TWO – novel Hallmark Christmas movies this season. And we’re suppos

Netflix’s first gay holiday rom-com

When the holiday season rolls around, I find myself pulled towards the lure of Hallmark-esque Christmas movies. They’re simply irresistible with charming small towns, cheesy romances, and holiday cheer.

Netflix has a wide range of original holiday movies out, and heaps of them are released every November. While I haven’t seen all of them, there certainly are a couple of gems.

Of course, it’s a fair critique to say that these types of movies are very formulaic and cliche. With unrealistic plotlines and predictable twists, the movies are by no means masterpieces. The once brooding love interest will always find the true meaning of Christmas, and any threats to the holiday will be miraculously resolved. However, despite the cheesiness, there is something so lighthearted and fun about these movies that is hard to ignore.

With Christmas approaching, I set out to watch a modern movie.

Number 8 on Netflix’s top ten charts was “Single All The Way,” released December 2nd, The movie centers on two queer best friends trying to navigate the holidays back ho

It’s the season to hug up on the sofa under a blanket, meal comfort food and survey lots of movies – and what better to watch right now than some of these heart-warming gay Christmas movies.

We hold put together a list of some of the most popular gay Christmas movies around, some on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu and other platforms, there should be something for everyone!

If we have missed any gay Christmas movies from this list, please let us know!

In a year of anti-LGBTQ backlash, Hallmark’s Christmas movies are a welcome signal of progress

A charming suburban couple welcomes a 6-year-old foster daughter on a joyous Christmas Eve. A successful New York lawyer and an ambitious Brooklyn photographer are set up on a blind appointment by their parents and fall in love, just in time to rejoice Christmas together. One might think that these movies — “Christmas on Cherry Lane” and “Friends and Family Christmas” — are exactly the sort of heartwarming, family-friendly holiday romances that conservative culture warriors would cheer.

But this year on the Hallmark Channel, there’s a plot twist: The main characters are gay. Christmas movies possess dominated the family-friendly channel’s winter programming for nearly two decades, with millions of loyal viewers. Last year, Hallmark aired its first Christmas movie with gay central characters. This year, two new movies feature gay and dyke leading characters. Other movies have supporting LGBTQ characters as well.
