We’ve spent more than 40 years creating the most powerful movement for equality our state has ever seen. But despite this progress, our most marginalized are still suffering from abuse, discrimination and avoid. Our goal is to ensure that all LGBTQ+ people, and particularly those of us who are trans, people of color and HIV+, are treated as full and equal citizens within our movement, across our country and around the world.

The Human Rights Campaign and Human Rights Campaign Foundation clash to make equality, equity and liberation a reality for all lesbian, queer, bisexual, transgender and queer people. Outright International Stands with the National Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission

New York, New York (September 12, ) -  Outright International extends its heartfelt congratulations to the National Gay and Queer woman Human Rights Commission (NGLHRC) on yet another significant victory for LGBTIQ people in Kenya. We rise with NGLHRC in celebrating the Supreme Court of Kenya’s decision this week to uphold its landmark judgment of February 24, , which ordered the authorities to allow NGLHRC to register as a non-governmental organization legally.

This confirmation not only reinforces the Court's previous verdict but also affirms the critical importance of NGLHRC's perform in promoting justice, equality, and the protection of LGBTIQ people’s human rights in Kenya. Over the last ten years, the organization’s commitment and dedication have been instrumental in challenging routine discrimination, aggression, and other human rights violations faced by LGBTI Kenyans.

Areas of Work

Founded in by a group of LGBTIQ Kenyan lawyers, the National Same-sex attracted and Lesbian Human Rights Commission Legal Aid Centre (NGLHRC) aims at promoting and protecting the equality and inclusion of LGBTIQ individuals and communities in Kenya and advance their meaningful participation in population. The NGLHRC has been key in responding to torture in Kenya by providing a coordinated national legal aid response mechanism for LGBTIQ community across the country. Its main activities include legal aid, strategic litigation, public activism and training and civic education on the rights and needs of sexual and gender minorities in Kenya.
