March | Cornellโs Gay Peopleโs Center Serves as Pilot Program
The Cornell Gay People's Center at Sheldon Court on College Ave was opened in March in response to the needs of the growing gay community. Jointly financed by the University, GLF, and Graduate Coordinating Council, it was race as a five-year experiment. The modern space gave the gay rights learner group, Cornellโs Male lover Liberation Front, more freedom to keep meetings and parties and served as a safer room than their former office in Willard Straight Hall, where students feared entity outed. However, the Gay People's Center was not immune to street vandalism and harassment as it received obscene phone calls, and the bulletin board was once put on fire. In , two Ithaca teenagers were arrested for breaking five windows over a two-week period, which only served to worsen relations between the Center and the manager of real estate for the University. Long-term Viability & Sustainability:
The purpose of the viability and sustainability department is to make the internal systems and processes of BLMP manageable and realistic for long designation growth, while also creating and maintaining the structures, resources, and capacity that support radical movement.

The Black Gay Men&#;s Network of Ontario is a centralized hub for same-gender-loving men of African, African diaspora, Afro-Latino, Caribbean and Black identities.
Our goal is to provide cultural, intergenerational and mentorship opportunities, leadership, self-development, and empowerment as well as activism help aimed at improving the lives of Black queer people in Ontario.
