June is Pride Month
Happy Pride Month, from First Nations!
“Gay lgbtq+ fest was not born of a requirement to celebrate entity gay, but our right to be without persecution. So instead of wondering why there isn’t a straight self-acceptance parade, be thankful you don’t want one.” – Dr. Ron Holt
June is Pride Month and it is always exciting to spot those first rainbows. It reminds us of the beauty and love noted this month. However, at First Nations, we know that all is not sparkly and colorful, and there is much history behind the Pride movement.
We also know that by supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and two-spirit family and friends, we are creating a vacuum of acceptance and appreciation, and not perpetuating the despise and violence that has plagued these communities for too many years.
What is the two-spirit community?

Note: Traveling as an LGBTQ+ person always carries a certain degree of risk. It is our truths as we navigate a nature with 60+ countries criminalizing our relationships and a rise in anti-LGBTQ+ legislation around the society. We encourage our traveling people to understand the laws and cultural challenges they may face in any destination they choose to visit for Pride and beyond. Don't be afraid of the world, but always research information specific to your travels. Enjoy Pride, be guarded, and look out for each other!
The LGBTQ+ rights movement has made tremendous strides over the past few decades and much of the progress in public presence is thanks in part to gay pride parades and marches that have taken place in cities around the world.
The global landscape for LGBTQ+ rights, protections and acceptance varies tremendously by location, with some destinations attracting millions of visitors to their events like Madrid Gay Event , Sao Paulo Gay Pride or San Francisco Gay Pride, while more than 70 other countries have laws that allow discrimin
Celebrating LGBTQIA+ Communities
Lesbian, Gay, Pansexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month is acknowledged in June to honor the Stonewall Rebellion that occurred in the Merged States. On June 28, , police raided Brand-new York City’s Stonewall Inn to harass its patrons, and the patrons fought back, helping to activate the LGBTQ civil rights movement. The first Celebration march began the monitoring year to commemorate the Stonewall Rebellion.
Now, people around the world celebrate Parade, honoring the diversity of LGBTQIA+ (I represents intersex; A represents asexual; and the plus holds room for expanding gender identities and sexual orientations) communities.
